Yet another cool thing I found in the school Library Journal. Check this out!
-- School Library Journal, 12/2/2009 Have any of your young readers ever gushed about a book that transported them to a new world or introduced them to a character that they felt like they knew? The Letters About Literature (LAL) promotion from the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, in partnership with Target, asks readers in three grade categories (Level 1: grades 4-6; Level 2: 7-8; Level 3: 9-12) to select a fiction or nonfiction book, a short story, poem, essay or speech and write a letter to the author about how the title affected them. Six national winners will receive a $500 Target Gift Card, plus each will win a $10,000 LAL Reading Promotion Grantfor their community or school library. The deadline is December 12, so hurry up and check out the application information ASAP! I hope some of you enter! -Bailey
